In mid-February 2025, Ulink received a request for repatriation assistance involving a senior patient who had sustained a femoral neck fracture and multiple bruises after an accidental fall. The incident occurred in Zhuhai, China, and the patient was admitted to a government hospital for immediate care.
Medical Assessment and Action Plan
Initial fit-to-fly evaluations ruled out commercial travel due to the patient’s condition. An air ambulance was considered, but both Ulink's medical team and external advisors stressed the need for immediate surgery in China to avoid complications. Once the surgery was successfully completed on February 20, Ulink coordinated the patient’s safe return:
-
Ground ambulance from Zhuhai to Guangzhou airport with nurse escort
-
Business class flight for the patient, economy for the family escort
-
Arrival ambulance transfer in Singapore
Throughout, Ulink’s team worked closely with local partners, the insurer, and travel vendors to ensure medical integrity and logistical efficiency.
